Master and Margarita

The action takes place in Moscow of the 1930s. A famous writer at a high point of his career suddenly finds himself at the center of a literature scandal. His play is withdrawn from the repertoire, his colleagues evidently avoid him, and he becomes an outsider in a very few days. In a short time, he meets Margarita, who becomes his lover and muse. Encouraged with her love and support, the writer starts writing a new novel where the characters are people from his environment and the protagonist is the mysterious Woland, his prototype is a recent foreigner acquaintance. The writer immerses himself into the world of the novel and gradually stops noticing how fiction and reality become intertwined into one.
